CHIEF JACK'S SHOW AT 40
CHIEF JACK'S SHOW AT 40
August of 2008 will bring another milestone for the Mohawk Radio Show as it will celebrate the beginning of its 40th year on the air. Over the years, the program's location has changed, sometimes briefly while The Chief travelled, sometimes when he relocated, but the basic idea has always been the same: bring the audience the widest range of music possible while still keeping up with the times (and the requests).
The Cure For The Common Show, as it's long been called, began in West New York and Kearny, New Jersey, in 1969, and from there migrated to Newark, Passaic, and Harrison in the Garden State before a stint in Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee. Chief Jack eventually moved to the west coast, and today he programs his own station on Live365, appropriately called Chief Jack Radio, and the Mohawk Show takes center stage on Monday and Wednesday nights at 8:30 PM Pacific Time.
Travelling across North America has given a number of places the distinction of hosting The Chief live. Mohawk Radio has originated from such locales as Phoenix, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico; Evansville, Indiana; New York City; Tijuana and Juarez, Mexico; and various cities in Canada.
Although the main part of the station playlist is classic rock, you can also hear oldies, pop, classical, country, and alternative music, as well as the latest from Indie artists. Any musical requests can be made at mohawkshow1@yahoo.com.
Chief Jack Radio was the victim of a cyber attack earlier this year, but with the cooperation of fans worldwide, The Chief was able to rebuild a large part of his music library, which was destroyed in the attack.
Come celebrate the Mohawk Radio Show's 40th anniversary in August. You just might hang around for the next 40 years.
